How it is used

  • "To assist" morpheme - 帮助 (bāngzhù) is the everyday word for help (both verb and noun): 帮助别人 (bāngzhù biérén) help others.
  • 有助于 (yǒuzhùyú) = to be conducive to / help toward, a formal frame: 运动有助于健康 (yùndòng yǒuzhùyú jiànkāng) exercise contributes to health.
  • 助手/助理 (zhùshǒu / zhùlǐ) = assistant (person); 协助 (xiézhù) = to assist (more formal than 帮助, often in work/official contexts).
