How it is used
- "need" - 我需要帮助 (wǒ xūyào bāngzhù) I need help; softer than 必须 (must).
- Also a noun: 满足需要 (mǎnzú xūyào) meet a need. Can take a verb: 需要休息 need to rest.
- Negative 不需要 = don't need; contrast 不用 (búyòng, no need to bother).
