How it is used
- Refers to an entire course or curriculum of study, broader than a single class session.
- 选课程 (xuǎn kèchéng) - to choose/select courses, common at the start of a school term.
- Contrast with 课 (kè), which is one individual lesson or class period - 课程 is the whole planned sequence, e.g. a semester-long 课程 made up of many 课.
- Common in academic contexts: 课程表 (kèchéngbiǎo, course schedule/timetable) and 课程设置 (kèchéng shèzhì, curriculum design).
