How it is used
- To gather/mass together in one place - 人们聚集在广场上 (rénmen jùjí zài guǎngchǎng shang) people gathered in the square.
- Works for crowds, clouds, capital, energy - anything converging to one spot; more formal than everyday 聚 (jù) or 聚会.
- Contrast 收集 (shōují, to collect items one by one): 聚集 is things converging on their own or being massed; 收集 is a person actively gathering objects.
