How it is used
- A get-together / party / gathering - 家庭聚会 (jiātíng jùhuì) a family gathering; 参加聚会 (cānjiā jùhuì) go to a party.
- Both noun and verb (老朋友聚会 old friends get together). Contrast 派对 (pàiduì, a party, borrowed and more Western/festive): 聚会 is the general gathering, often of friends or family.
- 聚 (assemble) + 会 (meet).
