A figure leaning forward over a foot, the body already tipped the way it is about to go. It meant running long ago and walking now.
How it is used
- "To walk; to leave" - 走路 (zǒulù) walk, 我先走了 (wǒ xiān zǒu le) I'll head off now. Note the "depart" sense is very common in speech.
- Trap: 走 is walk/go on foot or leave; to "go (to a place)" is 去 (qù). As a directional ending it means "away" - 拿走 (názǒu) take away, 搬走 (bānzǒu) move away.
