How it came to be
Three lines drifting sideways, the top and bottom ones longer: vapour lying in layers, the way mist sits over ground on a cold morning. The middle stroke bends because air does not hold a line.
How it is used
- Air / gas / breath, and by extension mood / anger - 空气 (kōngqì) air, 天气 (tiānqì) weather, 生气 (shēngqì) get angry.
