- To lead / be ahead (in a race, ranking, technology) - 领先地位 (lǐngxiān dìwèi) leading position; 遥遥领先 (yáoyáo lǐngxiān) far in the lead.
- About being out front in competition or development. Opposite is 落后 (luòhòu, to lag behind) - 落后两分 (luòhòu liǎng fēn) trail by two points.
