How it is used
- To select something for use - pick and then employ it - 选用优质材料 (xuǎnyòng yōuzhì cáiliào) select and use quality materials.
- The 用 adds 'and put to use' on top of choosing; more purposeful than bare 选. Common in recipes, manufacturing, hiring (选用人才).
- Neutral, slightly formal register.
