- To dodge or evade something you should face - 逃避责任 (táobì zérèn) shirk responsibility; 逃避现实 (táobì xiànshí) escape from reality.
- Abstract/psychological: you 逃避 problems, duties, taxes, or feelings, not physically run. Contrast 躲避 (duǒbì), which leans toward dodging a concrete thing (a car, a person).
- Usually carries mild disapproval - avoiding what you ought to confront.
