How it is used
- To dodge or steer clear of something coming at you - 躲避危险 (duǒbì wēixiǎn) to avoid danger, 躲避追捕 (duǒbì zhuībǔ) to evade capture.
- More physical/evasive than 避免 (bìmiǎn, to prevent from happening): 躲避 is ducking away from a threat or person, 避免 is heading off an outcome.
- Can also mean shrinking from a problem - 躲避责任 (duǒbì zérèn) to shirk responsibility.
