How it is used
- 'At the right moment, timely' - used as an adverb or adjective - 适时调整策略 (shìshí tiáozhěng cèlüè) adjust the strategy at the right time.
- Stresses good timing rather than speed; contrast 及时 (jíshí, in the nick of time, before it's too late). 适时 = well-timed/opportune, 及时 = prompt/just in time.
- Common in advice and reporting: 政府适时出台政策 (zhèngfǔ shìshí chūtái zhèngcè) the government rolled out the policy at an opportune time.
