How it is used
- To belittle / underrate - treat as unimportant - 不要轻视任何对手 (búyào qīngshì rènhé duìshǒu) don't underestimate any opponent.
- Takes people, tasks, or dangers as objects; often a warning against complacency.
- 轻视 = the attitude of undervaluing (opposite 重视, zhòngshì, to value); 轻蔑 adds visible scorn. Also compare 忽视 (hūshì, to overlook/neglect) - 重视教育 (zhòngshì jiàoyù) value education.
