How it is used
- To overlook/neglect something you shouldn't - 不能忽视安全 (bùnéng hūshì ānquán) we can't neglect safety.
- The object is usually abstract and important (a problem, a factor, feelings). Distinguish from 忽略 (hūlüè, to leave out/miss, often unintentionally) - 忽视 more often implies failing to give due attention.
- Contrast 无视 (wúshì, to willfully disregard/defy), which is stronger and more deliberate.
