How it is used
- To tell a lie - 他从不说谎 (tā cóng bù shuōhuǎng) he never lies; 说谎被拆穿 (shuōhuǎng bèi chāichuān) the lie was exposed.
- Verb-object (说+谎), splits: 说了个谎 (shuō le ge huǎng) told a lie. The lie itself is 谎言 (huǎngyán).
- Everyday register; the neutral verb of lying, no fancy connotation.
