- To doubt or suspect - 我怀疑他在说谎 (wǒ huáiyí tā zài shuōhuǎng) I suspect he's lying; 怀疑自己 (huáiyí zìjǐ) doubt oneself.
- Covers both 'doubt (don't believe)' and 'suspect (think guilty)': 警察怀疑他 (jǐngchá huáiyí tā) the police suspect him.
- Contrast 相信 (xiāngxìn, to believe) as the antonym. Stronger and more pointed than merely 不确定 (bú quèdìng, unsure).
