- To record in writing (esp. historically), and the written account - 史书记载 (shǐshū jìzǎi) the histories record that…, 有文字记载 there are written records.
- Reserved for documenting events/facts in texts and archives, unlike the everyday 记录; strong bookish, historical flavor.
- Read jìzǎi (载 = zǎi here).
