How it is used
- To firmly conclude / to officially determine - 认定他有罪 (rèndìng tā yǒuzuì) to conclude he's guilty.
- Two flavors: (1) a formal/legal determination of fact - 工伤认定 (gōngshāng rèndìng) recognizing a work injury; (2) being dead-set: 认定了就不改 (rèndìng le jiù bù gǎi) once he's made up his mind he won't change.
- Stronger conviction than 认为 (rènwéi, to think/believe).
