- If / supposing - 若是下雨，就改期 (ruòshì xiàyǔ, jiù gǎiqī) if it rains, we'll reschedule.
- A somewhat literary/formal equivalent of 如果 (rúguǒ) or 要是 (yàoshi).
- Written and slightly elevated register; interchangeable with 如果 in meaning.
