How it is used
- The back / reverse side of an object - 请在背面签名 (qǐng zài bèimiàn qiānmíng) please sign on the back.
- Spatial opposite of 正面 (zhèngmiàn, the front/face); used for paper, coins, buildings, photos - 硬币的正面 (yìngbì de zhèngmiàn) the front of a coin.
- Neutral; distinct from 后面 (hòumiàn, behind) which is about relative position, not an object's own reverse.
