- Of a person: composed, level-headed, not flighty - 他年轻但很稳重 (tā niánqīng dàn hěn wěnzhòng) he's young but very steady.
- Describes character and bearing; a compliment implying maturity and reliability.
- Contrast 稳健 (wěnjiàn), which more often describes style/policy; 稳重 is chiefly about temperament. Opposite: 轻浮 (qīngfú, frivolous) - 轻浮的人 (qīngfú de rén) a frivolous person.
