How it is used
- A shortcoming / weak point - 每个人都有短处 (měi ge rén dōu yǒu duǎnchù) everyone has weaknesses.
- Opposite of 长处 (chángchù, strong point); the pair 长处/短处 is standard. Contrast 缺点 (quēdiǎn, defect/fault), a near-synonym. Note 处 reads chù - 发挥长处 (fāhuī chángchù) play to your strengths.
