How it is used
- Similar / alike (two things resemble each other) - 两者很相似 (liǎngzhě hěn xiāngsì) the two are very similar; 长得相似 look alike.
- Contrast 类似 (lèisì, 'similar to / analogous', often taking an object: 类似的情况): 相似 describes a mutual likeness between things, and 相 marks the mutual sense.
- Note 似 reads sì here.
