How it is used
- To make a profit; profit/gains - 公司开始盈利 (gōngsī kāishǐ yínglì) the company turned profitable; 盈利模式 (profit model).
- Both verb and noun in business/finance; opposite 亏损 (kuīsǔn, to run a loss) - 公司亏损 (gōngsī kuīsǔn) the company is losing money.
- Near 营利 (yínglì) but different focus: 盈利 = to actually earn a profit; 营利 = to be run for profit (营利机构, a for-profit body).
