How it is used
- A financial loss/deficit - 公司亏损 (gōngsī kuīsǔn) the company is running a loss, 亏损严重 heavy losses.
- 亏损 is being in the red (business); opposite of 盈利/盈余 (profit). Contrast 损失 (sǔnshī), a loss/damage more generally - 公司盈利 (gōngsī yínglì) the company makes a profit.
- 扭亏为盈 (niǔkuī-wéiyíng) = to turn a loss into a profit.
- Also physical 'depletion': 身体亏损 a run-down constitution (medical/TCM).
