How it is used
- A loss/damage suffered; to lose - 经济损失 (jīngjì sǔnshī) financial loss; 损失惨重 (sǔnshī cǎnzhòng) suffer heavy losses.
- The thing/value lost (money, resources, lives) as a result of misfortune. Distinguish from 损害 (sǔnhài, to harm/impair, the act of damaging) and 失去 (shīqù, to lose possession of).
- 造成损失 (cause losses), 减少损失 (cut losses).
