How it is used
- The tropical climate zone - 热带雨林 (rèdài yǔlín) tropical rainforest, 热带水果 (rèdài shuǐguǒ) tropical fruit.
- Part of the fixed geographic set 热带 / 温带 (wēndài, temperate) / 寒带 (hándài, frigid); learn them together.
- Note it names the zone, not just 'hot weather' - for a hot day you'd say 天气很热, not 热带.
