How it is used
- An abstract concept / idea / notion - 时间的概念 (shíjiān de gàiniàn) the concept of time.
- Common colloquial phrase 没概念 (méi gàiniàn) 'have no idea/sense of it': 我对价格没概念 I've no notion of the price.
- Contrast 观念 (guānniàn), which is a viewpoint/mindset one holds; 概念 is a defined notion of what something is.
