How to remember 无聊: 无 have not + 聊 chat = nonsense.

How it is used
- 'Bored' (of a person) or 'boring/pointless/silly' (of a thing) - 我很无聊 (wǒ hěn wúliáo) I'm bored; 无聊的电影 (wúliáo de diànyǐng) a boring film.
- Also 'senseless/childish': 别做无聊的事 (bié zuò wúliáo de shì) don't do pointless things.
- Contrast 没意思 (méi yìsi, not interesting/dull), a near-synonym; 无聊 can also carry a 'meaningless/frivolous' judgment 没意思 lacks.
