- To bring under control / clean up a problem - 整治环境 (zhěngzhì huánjìng) clean up the environment, 整治交通 (zhěngzhì jiāotōng) crack down on traffic disorder.
- Official register for remedial campaigns. Colloquially it can mean 'fix' a person (teach them a lesson): 整治他一下 (zhěngzhì tā yíxià).
