- Traffic / transportation - 交通很方便 (jiāotōng hěn fāngbiàn) transport is convenient; 交通事故 (jiāotōng shìgù) traffic accident.
- Covers both the flow of vehicles and the transport system as a whole.
- Contrast 交流 (jiāoliú, exchange), which shares 交; and 运输 (yùnshū) 'freight/transport of goods'. 交通 is everyday getting-around.
