How it is used
- To spread/scatter widely - usually information: 散布谣言 (sànbù yáoyán) spread rumors, 散布恐慌 (sànbù kǒnghuāng) spread panic.
- Often negative when the object is talk. Note reading sàn (to scatter), not sǎn. Contrast 传播 (chuánbō), a more neutral 'disseminate/propagate'.
