- To describe factually and in detail - 描述事情的经过 (miáoshù shìqing de jīngguò) describe how the events unfolded.
- Objective, informational description (of events, features, data). Distinguish from 形容 (xíngróng, to describe by likeness/adjectives, conveying impression) - 描述 lays out the facts, 形容 paints the feeling.
