- Happy/joyful - the go-to festival greeting: 生日快乐 (shēngrì kuàilè) happy birthday, 新年快乐 (xīnnián kuàilè) happy new year.
- 快乐 is a bright, momentary cheer; 幸福 (xìngfú) is deeper contentment/wellbeing.
- Note 乐 here is lè, not the yuè of 音乐 (music).
