How it came to be

A heart with an archer's thumb ring beside it, the thing that lets an arrow go clean. A heart that lets go without hesitating is both pleased and fast, and the character is still both.

How it is used

  • "Fast; soon" - 快点 (kuài diǎn) hurry up, 快到了 (kuài dào le) almost there. Before a verb 快 or 快要…了 marks something about to happen - 快下雨了 (kuài xià yǔ le) it's about to rain.
  • Also "pleased" - 快乐 (kuàilè) happy, 愉快 (yúkuài) cheerful. Opposite of the speed sense is 慢 (màn, slow).
