How it is used
- Thoroughly, all the way to the bottom, leaving nothing - 彻底解决问题 (chèdǐ jiějué wèntí) solve the problem completely.
- Adverb of completeness stronger than 完全 (wánquán, entirely): 彻底 stresses going to the root - 彻底改变/清理/失败 (thoroughly change/clean/fail).
- Note 彻 is chè, not the look-alike 撤 (chè, to withdraw).
