How it is used
- Colloquial 'even if / even though': 就算下雨,我们也去 (jiùsuàn xiàyǔ, wǒmen yě qù) even if it rains, we'll go.
- Concessive; typically pairs with 也 in the second clause. More spoken than 即使 (jíshǐ), which is the written equivalent.
- Also 'let's just say / forget it' in 就算了 (jiù suàn le, drop it).
