- 'To reflect (light/sound); reflex' - physics: 光的反射 (guāng de fǎnshè) reflection of light; physiology: 条件反射 (tiáojiàn fǎnshè) a conditioned reflex.
- Two threads: the optical bouncing-back of waves, and the involuntary bodily reflex. Distinguish from 反映 (fǎnyìng, to reflect/mirror a situation, or to report).
