How it is used
- Original / pre-existing (that which was there before) - 保留原有功能 (bǎoliú yuányǒu gōngnéng) keep the original features; 原有的计划 (yuányǒu de jìhuà) the existing plan.
- An attributive adjective meaning 'formerly held/possessed'; it modifies nouns and isn't used as a standalone verb.
- Contrast 原来 (yuánlái), an adverb meaning 'originally/it turns out'; 原有 attaches to a noun as 'the former, existing…'.
