How it is used
- "Almost, nearly" - 几乎每天 (jīhū měitiān) almost every day; 几乎一样 (jīhū yīyàng) nearly the same.
- With a negative it means "hardly / almost no" - 几乎没有 (jīhū méiyǒu) hardly any, 几乎不 (jīhū bù) hardly ever.
- Adverb; close to 差不多 (chàbuduō) but 几乎 is a touch more formal and emphasizes "a hair short of" the full amount.
