How it is used
- Close and warm (with someone), or to get close to them - 孩子和奶奶很亲近 (háizi hé nǎinai hěn qīnjìn) the child is very close to grandma.
- Both adjective (feeling close) and verb (to draw near to a person): 他不太容易亲近 (tā bú tài róngyì qīnjìn) he's not very approachable.
- About emotional closeness between people; don't use for physical proximity of objects (use 靠近 kàojìn for that).
