- To advocate/hold a position - 我主张早点出发 (wǒ zhǔzhāng zǎodiǎn chūfā) I'm for setting off early.
- Also a noun, 'a stance/proposition' - 各有各的主张 (gè yǒu gè de zhǔzhāng) each has their own view.
- Stronger and more principled than just 认为 (rènwéi, to think); 主张 is putting forward and pushing for a position.
