How it is used

  • 'To have nothing at all' - utterly destitute, or stripped of everything - 破产后他一无所有 (pòchǎn hòu tā yìwúsuǒyǒu) after bankruptcy he had nothing left.
  • Emotionally weighty; often marks a low point, a fresh start from zero, or the price of a gamble.
