How it is used
- 'Still / also / even', before the verb - 还在睡 (hái zài shuì) still asleep, 还有 (háiyǒu) there's also/more, 比这还好 (bǐ zhè hái hǎo) even better than this.
- 还是 (háishi) means 'or' in questions (茶还是咖啡? tea or coffee?) and 'had better' in suggestions (还是走吧 we'd better go).
- Read huán it's a different word, 'to give back / return': 还书 (huán shū) return a book, 归还 (guīhuán) return something.
