- Literally driving/walking against the direction of traffic - 骑车逆行很危险 (qí chē nìxíng hěn wēixiǎn) cycling the wrong way is dangerous.
- Since 2020 it also carries a heroic figurative sense: 逆行者 (nìxíngzhě) 'those who go against the flow' - people who rush toward danger to help others.
