- The cutting edge/point of a blade: 锋利 (fēnglì) sharp, of knives and, figuratively, of words or wit.
- Extends to being at the leading edge - 先锋 (xiānfēng) vanguard/pioneer, 锋芒 (fēngmáng) the exposed sharp edge of one's talent or aggression.
