How it is used
- A physical gap or a spare slot of time - 两栋楼的间隙 (liǎng dòng lóu de jiànxì) the gap between two buildings; 工作间隙 a break in work.
- More concrete/technical than 间断; used for clearances between parts (机械间隙) and brief windows between activities.
- Read jiàn xì. Contrast 间隔 (jiàngé), which is the spacing/distance you deliberately set between things.
