Characters
How it is used
- To send warm greetings to someone - 请代我问候你父母 (qǐng dài wǒ wènhòu nǐ fùmǔ) please give my regards to your parents.
- Warmer and more personal than a plain 你好; it's about caring for someone's wellbeing, often relayed through a third person or in letters/holidays.
- Note the coll./ironic sense: 问候某人祖宗 can mean to swear at someone - context makes this clear.
