How it is used
- Colloquial 'all, the whole lot, every last one' - 把钱通通花光了 (bǎ qián tōngtōng huāguāng le) spent all the money.
- An emphatic adverb, interchangeable with 统统 (tǒngtǒng); a bit stronger and more spoken than plain 都 (dōu).
- Often paired with a sweeping verb: 通通拿走 take them all away.
