How it is used
- The everyday verb for sending something back to where it came from - 把货退回给厂家 (bǎ huò tuìhuí gěi chǎngjiā) return the goods to the manufacturer.
- Covers both returning goods (refunds, rejected shipments) and a document being kicked back - 申请被退回 (shēnqǐng bèi tuìhuí) the application was sent back.
- Compare 退还 (tuìhuán, give back what's owed, e.g. a deposit): 退回 stresses the physical/procedural sending-back, 退还 stresses restoring what belongs to someone.
